There are days I’m especially proud to be a mom. Or a Yahoo. Or even a blogger. Last Thursday and Friday—at the Yahoo! Mother Board Summit—I got to celebrate being all three. (All in 140 characters or less!)

Over 60 women from around the U.S. and Canada, who had formed virtual friendships online as part of the Yahoo! Mother Board, finally came together and met face to face at our welcome reception. Eyes lit up with recognition and shoulders relaxed as the moms stopped worrying about the kids they’d kissed goodbye and started diving into conversation (and mojitos, of course). Listening to these inspirational women chatting at the party, there was no doubt this was going to be one great exchange of ideas.

And it was.

On Friday morning the group arrived at Yahoo! headquarters. The purple carpet led the women to the official Yahoo! Mother Board Summit. Jeanne and I welcomed our guests to the event that had been a dream since the inception of the Yahoo! Mother Board three years ago.

Elisa Steele, proud mom of two and Yahoo! CMO (also Chief Cleaner-Upper, Chief Fashion Officer and Chief of Awesomeness according to her kids), gave a fun, insightful keynote. She explained that this event was all about addressing moms holistically and that we really wanted to hear from these women to create the best possible online experiences for them—and moms around the world. The energy was felt, not only in the room, but on Twitter. Both Elisa Steele and our hashtag, #ymotherboard, were trending in San Francisco.

The action-packed day hit high gear as the ladies dove into animated discussions with talented team members and leaders from Yahoo! Shine, Flickr, Yahoo! Safely, Yahoo! Social Products, Yahoo! for Good & Yahoo! Green, Yahoo! Editorial, Yahoo! Accessibility and Yahoo! Ad Products. It was truly a two-way dialogue and both sides learned a lot from each other.

But don’t take it from me, check out what some of the Yahoo! Mother Board members had to say after the Summit:
