Lesson #1: Those little boy jeans that need to be cuffed (you know, the same ones that will be too short in no time) can turn the laundry room into a sandbox in one load flat. (Note to self: Please do not feel the need to re-learn this lesson again next year.)

Lesson #2: Doggy bags are for people who simply lack creativity and resourcefulness. It’s much easier (and greener) to bring home that last piece of bacon in your hat. And, yes, wear it on your head.

Lesson #3: It’s a relief to know that (at least this one time) the reason your little one can’t sleep is because he’s just…too…excited…that he gets to see both sets of grandparents in one weekend.

Lesson #4: You can be a card shark at a high-stakes poker tournament one night and lose the world’s quickest game of War (which this usually not-so-PC mom renamed Number Challenge) to a 4-year old the next.

Lesson #5: Some weeks you just come up short.

May you all enjoy a simple surprise, an ingenious moment, the excitement of anticipation and the sweet taste of victory this week!

Lesson # 1: Big is a very lucky card player. I participated in that game of “Number Challenge” and I wish I could say it was quick because I wanted Big to be the big winner – after all I am a grandma, and I would rather they laugh instead of cry. But, it soon became evident I was going to lose all on my own – in less than ten minutes! That Big clearly has the luck of the Irish!

Lesson #2: That last piece of bacon is pretty special – and I am going to use the hat system in the future – only problem is that I never have left over bacon. Yum-yum.

Yes, Big definitely had beginner’s luck with you! You’ve taught him a new favorite game and we’re all loving it. (Almost as much as we love bacon.)

I’ve learned that no matter how hard, scary, or sad… you just have to do what’s right… what’s right for your kiddos (even if they disagree) and what’s right for you (even if it means sticking your neck out).

It sounds like you had some intense moments this week. No doubt you made great decisions…even if they weren’t easy ones!
