Lesson #1: There are worse problems than having a kid who won’t eat his pasta because he can’t get enough broccoli. And having a kid who begs me to buy a veggie platter every time I walk in the grocery store. (Though it does make me wonder if I brought the right kid home from the hospital…)
Lesson #2: The animal that’s been trampling our flowers is, technically, not an animal. It’s Little.
Lesson #3: While, in retrospect, there’s no such thing as a low-key birthday party (at least not when Lenny and I are the parents), I would do it all again in a heartbeat after seeing how happy and proud Little was celebrating the fun-loving kid that he is.
Lesson #4: Birthdays are a time to sit back and marvel at how much has changed—and how much your heart can grow—in just 365 days.
Lesson #5: When your soon-to-be 2-year old enters the “why” phase, it’s pretty funny. For a day. Then you can’t help but think, “Why?! Why?!”
Here’s to a great Thanksgiving for you and all of your loved ones. May you find many reasons to raise you glass and really and truly feel thankful. I know I will.

Raising my glass to Little’s 2nd (sorry I missed the festivities) and to a healthy, happy Thanksgiving for all. I have so much to be thankful for, which includes an awesome family of friends like you!
You may have missed the festivities, but you certainly scored big. He’s been running around all evening saying, “Purple. Balloons. Purple. Balloons.” Who knew Buzz could be out-cooled? Thanks, as always, for your thoughtfulness and friendship!
Happy Birthday to your wee one!!!
And what did I learn this week… NEVER take the kiddos to the market in the evening… it was super fun hearing them both crying in the check out line. Then again, the lesson really might have been NOT to take the boys out when they did not take naps… (sigh).
And that cake in the picture looks perfect – did you make it? 🙂

Oh Jodie, my baking and photography skills are not even close to this pic, I’m afraid. I was just moving too quickly last night and forgot to give photo credit (added now). We enjoyed a Safeway Toy Story cake…which I slaved over ordering.
As for your lesson, it’s one I don’t think I’ll ever learn…
What fun it was being at Little’s party with all your dear friends and their children. Little Little is coming into his own and watching him on the flying trapeze confirmed it! He was so confident and smiley, too. We loved being a part of his 2nd birthday party. Happy Birthday to the big boy!!!
