Spring fever has hit our house hard. The kids are celebrating the longer days and warmer weather by spending afternoons outside with friends. Lenny is celebrating by dusting off the BBQ and enjoying the NBA playoffs and the new baseball season. And I’m celebrating the fact that I’ve made it through another week of bedrest and my baby is almost 34 weeks—the first milestone we were hoping to achieve.
Of course all these little Spring celebrations will pale in comparison to the big one to come: welcoming our baby girl to the family.
As kid #3—and a feisty one at that—I’m afraid she’s gotten the short end of the stick so far. Luckily I bought some adorable spring getups right before I went on bedrest (and maybe one or two online since…maybe). My mom has been visiting with some sweet pink fun in hand (it’s never too early to start spoiling your granddaughter, right?). I’ve been given some precious hand-me-downs by my sister-in-law and a friend, too. And a few of my college friends surprised me the other night with dinner and a mini shower of girlie goodies.
But there’s still so much to do to get ready for her arrival. We need to move the boys into a room together, which means not only bunk bed shopping, but moving Little out of the crib (say it ain’t so!). And of course we’ll need to turn Little’s boyish room into a girlie room. Oh, and there’s car shopping to be done (any recommendations for toting 3+ kids around are welcome). Are you seeing a theme here? None of these things can really be done until after she arrives given my horizontal state. That’ll teach me to wait until the last minute…
Thank goodness for the Internet. I’ve been scouting out crib bedding, but of course haven’t decided yet. And I’ve also been looking through baby announcements. Heck, maybe that’s one thing I can get done before she turns 1. (Though I still have to schedule my wonderful friend and photographer Jenny Lee…add that to my list!)
As I look at the sweet baby pics in these beautiful birth announcements, I can’t help but wonder… Will she have big blue eyes like my boys? Or puppy dog brown eyes like Lenny? Will she ever get those scrumptious rolls in her thighs? Or will she be long and lean like her brothers? Will her hair be so blond it’s see through like Big’s was? Or dark and quick to recede like Little’s? One thing I’m afraid I do already know thanks to my many recent ultrasounds: she’s got Big’s, well…BIG head brain. (It’s already measuring 37 weeks!)
Soon I’ll have answers to all my questions…and so very much to celebrate. I can’t wait to get out and enjoy Spring with my baby girl in tow (ok, maybe I can wait a few more weeks).
How about you? What are you celebrating this spring? Will you be sending graduation announcements? Perhaps save the date cards? I’d love to hear what’s happening with you—big or small!

Great post, I love how you are always full of gratitude for the good things in life. 🙂
Our family is celebrating the fact that its almost time for the Easter bunny to arrive, swimming on the weekends and enjoying sat mornings at the baseball field cheering on little Graham’s tball team. 🙂
I love this time of year, it reminds me of the cycle of life with new baby barn animals being born, fresh field flowers blooming after a good rainy winter and a sweet reminder that summer is just around the corner.
Love!!
All such fun stuff to celebrate. Seriously, when did Graham turn into such a big kid? So cute. Happy Spring to you and your fun-loving family!
Can’t wait to meet this little lady!
And she can’t wait to meet you. No doubt she’ll follow in her brothers’ footsteps and want to spend every moment imaginable with you and your family!
and if your little lady spends her first few months sleeping in a laundry basket by your bed wearing baby boy clothes – so be it! 😉 She will be as incredible as your boys are :)!!! (although strapping her to the roof of your car may *not* be the best option… ;)!)
xxoo
I hate to say it, but a minivan may well be in your future. I thought long and hard- and tried to convince myself that an SUV with the extra fold out seats in the back would work. nope. I tried. Now I have a Sienna and we love it. We call it the moving apartment. It makes my life so much easier. Can’t wait to see your little girl! They are so much fun!!
