If you haven’t lived with a 6-year-old boy (or my 6-year-old boy, at least), you may not know what gets them fired up. So let me share.
Playing games.
Winning games.
Being in constant motion.
Talking back.
Victory dances.
Telling other people what to do.
Mastering something your little brother and sister can’t.
Showing off your reading skills.
Seeing yourself on the big screen.
Did I mention winning?
Well, over Big’s Spring Break, he discovered a new adventure that hits every single check mark on this list. Impressive, right? Yes, this desperate mom with a sleeping baby was nice enough to fire up the PS3 and introduce him to a new game: Start the Party, Save the World. While Little is the real superhero in our family, Big loves putting people in their place (which made it an added bonus that he actually got to take his own picture to be the hero), so Dr. Terrible was in for some trouble.
Not only was he jumping all over the place (yes, you need the PS Move controller and eye camera for this one), he could go from game to game and figure out how to play them. All. By. Himself. While each game only lasts a couple minutes, it was at least 20 minutes before he asked for some water. Do you know how much mad typing/laundering/straightening/make-uping can be accomplished in 20 minutes?
Turns out, I also had fun playing the games. (And, I’m not gonna lie, I kind of dug seeing my face on the big screen too.) Guess I know what we’ll be doing during Pink’s naps and Little’s playdates this summer. Saving the world…or at least having some active fun together.
Note: Little was a bit too, well, little for mastering the controller on this one. He’s still partial to Everybody Dance. No wonder he’s my favorite kid. Ok, not really. But he is fun to dance with.
Disclosure: As a member of PlayStation Family, I was given a free download of the game, Start the Party, Save the World. I was not compensated for this post and all opinions/observations are my own.
Great post! I am just getting ready to start playing this game too. Looks like a blast.
Thanks, Gina. Enjoy!
