December. Man, this month can be insane. But slowing down to enjoy some of our favorite traditions and the people we love is what makes the holiday season so special. Last week, Lenny and I curled up on the couch to admire one amazingly lit tree and to toast another week gone by. We had our favorite pizza and clinked glasses, excited to try a new wine.
One sip in, we knew we’d discovered a winner. It was Flat Bed Red 2010 Zinfandel. It was really the perfect pizza wine. And I don’t take my pizza or my wine lightly. It was smooth and flavorful, with the perfect amount of spice to compliment our gourmet dinner. (And when we finished the bottle a couple days later, we enjoyed it just as much.) Since we both loved it, and it’s sold at BevMo, I called our local store to see if they carried it. They said they were getting their first shipment in today and bottles are priced at just $12.99. (It’s like it was meant to be.) Merry Christmas to us!
A couple of cool factoids:
• The wine label honors their vineyard workers, who have ridden on their workhorse Red Flatbed truck and includes an original watercolor from local artist, Juliette Bourjais.
• Cerruti Cellars — part of the a Tudal Family Wineries who make Flat Bed Red — is located in Jack London Square in Oakland. Apparently I don’t have to go all the way to Napa to enjoy some good wine.
What will you be toasting this Friday? And with what in your glass?
Disclosure: I was sent Flat Bed Red for review purposes. All opinions are my own.
