Well, my friends, I asked you to join me in sharing sweet, funny, not-so-funny, real moments of motherhood. And you did. Thank you! There were lots of great pictures — and I truly hope they keep coming. Because, let’s face it, summer is bound to be full of unfiltered fun.
I hope you enjoy these 10 as much as I did. (Be sure to check out the whole collection by searching the hashtag #motherhoodunfiltered on Instagram. It was really hard to narrow it down…)
This photo from @amyeileennelson is beautiful. The colors, the mood, the innocence. And, yes, I have a thing for little girls in tutus. Can you blame me?
@creativepork is one of my favorite photographers, but she also happens to be sharing her son’s inspiring journey to health. At age 3, he was diagnosed with leukemia, and now — almost three years later — this was taken to document that he only had 3 (monthly) chemo treatments left! Go Cooper!
If you’re a mom, you know how special gifts from the heart are. Like this Mother’s Day specialty @guerrieri received from her son. Yep, a rock and a piece of ribbon. In a tea box. Treasures.
“Mommy, I made this out of play dough! It’s a body part boys have!” – @hooeycritic ‘s 5-year-old sweetheart
You don’t have to be able to talk to tell your parents how you really feel. And @janiewoodall ‘s little guy felt doubly pissed, it seems.
Nothing says summer like little wet heads and ice cream cones. Love this moment @jprindy captured.
I love coming across photos that show how kids see the world. In this one, @momalomjen is on the other side of the camera. Her kiddo captured her working at home one day.
Sometimes the only way to get something done — even if it’s as simple as enjoying a cup of tea in peace — is to plop those little ones in front of the TV. I loved @natalv18 ‘s honesty (and adorable little girl) in this one.
Oh, dads, @sellbie reminds you to beware of the video monitor. Just because you say you’re putting the kiddos down for a nap, doesn’t mean we don’t know it’s really you who’s catching some zzz’s.
And this one from @thies1023 made me feel some serious toddler mom solidarity. You turn away for a second and…
Many thanks to all of you for sharing the unfiltered moments in your week. Laughing — and even cringing — in good company makes life a whole lot more fun, if you ask me.
Keep those photos coming, and I’ll post some of my favorites again soon. (I’ve learned not to commit to days or times now that it’s officially summer.) Instagram on!
