Forget the calendar and the rain—it’s summer! Yes, by 11:45am today, we’d kissed preschool, kindergarten, and 3rd grade goodbye! Thanks to end-of-year parties, baseball playoffs, and ballet recitals, I’ve been much more of a cheerleader than a writer lately, but I do have a couple things to share.
A couple of friends I’ve made through blogging launched a really fun company recently called Avery and Austin. The brainchild of two creative, fun-loving moms, this monthly subscription service delivers the #perfectplaydate right to you (including a hostess gift for you-know-who!). I’ll be totally honest (surprise, surprise), I’m typically more of a #freerangeplaydate type of mom—I like to invite friends over to entertain my child, not so I can entertain an extra one. But after reviewing their May box, I’m thinking that this may just be the cure for my crafting phobia. When the supplies and instructions show up on my front porch, it’s not only do-able, it’s fun. I mean, check out this photo of Pink and her friend with their creativity in progress:

Some of my favorite writers kept sharing pieces they had written for a new site, The Mid. Their Twitter profile reads, “In the Messy Middle? Pressed for time, squeezed for attention, working too hard, raising our families, laughing as we look back, and focused on the future.” Yes, that’s me! And I’m loving this site. So I submitted a piece and I was thrilled that they featured it over the weekend.
